The new Porsche GT2 RS shows its face at E3

Porsche and Microsoft unveil the new 991 GT2 RS at the Forza Motorsport 7 launch

Now that the contract of Porsche is over with EA Games’s Need For Speed, other racing video games were finally able to work with Porsche and include their cars in the games. Forza is Microsoft’s masterpiece when it comes to racing video games, and so is the GT2 RS for Porsche, so they’ve collaborated to introduce the GT2 RS for the first time in the flesh at the E3 gaming convention with the release of Forza Motorsport 7.

Along with that, some more details about the GT2 RS went live, and some of the main specs are:

  • It will share the same engine from the Turbo S, but with some tune ups bringing it to 700hp
  • Rear-wheel drive drivetrain as usual, but with rear-wheel steering
  • Porsche Torque Vectoring
  • Variable rear locking differential

With that much power, it’s hinted to do 0-100kph in just a bit over 2.5 seconds.

Visually though from what we were able to see on the E3 stand and in the game, it’s sharing a lot of parts from the GT3 RS, but with a more aggressive wing, carbon fiber bonnet and the new front bumper huge vents that can swallow an airborne whale.

This is not the first time a manufacturer unveils a car alongside a videogame, where Nissan and Gran Turismo have also collaborated, unveiling the Nissan GT-R R35 for the first time digitally and in real life at the same time, 10 years ago.
