Electrifying a classic Jaguar E Type was the last thing we thought Jaguar would do. This is just plain awesome.
When you think of a 1968 Jaguar E Type, Other than thinking of an incredibly beautiful machine, you think of the slow cranking pattern, just readying your ears to a beautiful engine noise of glory. In 2017 though for the Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest, Jaguar decided to bring the E Type into the new electric era.
Jaguar has been investing a lot in electrification, with the first announcement being the I-Type, but we did not see this one coming. A zero emissions, fully electric 220kw 1968 1.5 E Type Roadster capable of achieving a 0-100 km/h sprint is just 5.5 seconds.
It did not just stop at converting the powertrain, but the drivetrain, interior and other features are all 21st century. The dashboard displayed in carbon fiber along with state of the art display screens for the gauges and center controls, while the center console is pure modern art, and you could see the Jaguar new gear round knob. The LED headlights are just a great add-on to the work put into this E Type, making it an all round modern electric classic. Being titled “The most beautiful car in the world” back in the day, does this make it now the most beautiful electric car in the world?
