Are you a future motorsport photographer ?

Fancy yourself as a future motorsport photographer ? A workshop to be held on December 9 and supported by Nikon, Dubai Autodrome and Gulf Photo Plus might be right up your street…

Are you a budding motorsport photographer in the Middle East but feel like your work could benefit from some additional polish? A new workshop set to take place at the Dubai Autodrome and with Nikon Middle East backing might be just what you’re looking for.

The first of its kind in the region, An Introduction to Motorsport Photography introduces candidates to the basics behind track snapping before teaching how best to hone their skills via in-depth looks at composition, panning and timely editing as per a client’s brief. All this takes place during an actual race weekend – specifically the December 9 race day – at the Dubai Autodrome, introducing candidates to life not only on track but also in the paddocks and on pit-road for those all important lifestyle shots, while abiding by the safety principles in-place during a race meeting and in response to a pre-arranged client brief.

Interested parties should also note that the instructor – an old mate of crankandpiston, com – is Mr David Benson, whose photography commitments have taken him around the world with Formula 1, the FIA World Endurance Championship and the World Rally Championship, as well as regularly in our own backyard for the Dubai 24 Hours endurance race. A quick look at his recent work during the 2016 F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix HERE, as well as the above selection if images, should you’re in good hands.

Why the slightly awkward sales pitch you might be asking? Well for starters, as our almost exhaustively detail-driven team of snappers takes great pleasure in reminding me, motoring and motorsport photography is a specialist industry, where a keen eye and imagination, studious use of tech and good old-fashioned practice are beyond necessary to make a splash on the scene. An opportunity to promote local talent in such a field? Colour us suitably intrigued.
