Picture the scene – Walking around the used car facility in Al Aweer, perving over some heavy metal and desperately missing cool cars. Heavy metal and bad ass 4×4’s can get quite tiresome and occasionally I really hanker after some of the cool stuff that you get all the time in the UK/Europe/US etc. The kind of car that someone has put some real personal thought into as apposed to either a) buying a super car, or b) getting a shop to build on off the peg piece.

So you can imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this lovely Japanese Import Porsche. It was just oh so right…stance, colour combo and the ivory and dark green leather interior worked perfectly!

I set myself the challenge of negotiating a price on the car in the vein hope that if it landed on my number I would step up and buy it. After 4 months (in the middle of a financial collapse after all) he came back to me and offered me the car for the money I rather jokingly suggested….Sadly the 500e was sat on the drive taking up management fleet duties by that stage though!!

So remember kids…there is always hope! Oh and remember, before buying the second choice, check on the first one!

  1. Interesting post Phil. Love the blog, found it a couple days ago via google. I will be going out to Al Aweer for the first time in search of an FJ Cruiser. I have never bought a used car before, so I was wondering if you had any tips on negotiating? Such as cut -20% off asking price and then meet them at -10%? Any insight would be great before I throw myself into the fire!
