Peugeot 2008 DKR debuts its new Red Bull/Total livery ahead of 2015 Dakar Rally debut.

Peugeot has unveiled the official livery of the 2008 DKR it will use on the upcoming Dakar Rally.

The initial all-carbon finish has now been replaced with the official colours of Peugeot, Red Bull and Total. And while this means a traditional red and blue livery, the top of the cabin has been painted white to protect Peugeot drivers Carlos Sainz (two-time World Rally Champion), Cyril Despres (five-time Dakar winner) and Stephane Peterhansel (11-time winner) from the intense heat.

Though still at an early stage of its development, the 2008 DKR has undergone thousands of testing kilometres. The 2015 Dakar Rally will be the team’s inaugural outing, an event the company has won four times on the bounce (’87-’90). The 2015 rally will be its first entry since 1990.

Powered by a 3.0-litre Bi-turbo diesel V6 that produces 340hp and 590lb ft of torque, the 2008 DKR boasts an unorthodox rear-wheel drive configuration as opposed to Dakar’s traditional four-wheel drive.
