Porsche 997 GT3. Leake Street Is The Place To Be

crankandpiston and Luke Gilbertson Photography spend time with a Porsche 997 GT3 (complete with RS rear wing and 3.6-litre six cylinder engine) in Leake Street/’Graffiti’ Tunnel in Lambeth, London, UK.

Turns out the best place to be if you’re looking for the crème de la crème of the sports coupe crowd in London, UK, is the Leake Street Tunnel in Lambeth.

Granted, encouraging our crankandpiston faithful to loiter in deserted dead ends in the English capital suggests that “gimme your wallet and nobody gets hurt” is just around the corner, but there are reasons for this recommendation.

Firstly, Leake Street Tunnel – also known as ‘Graffiti Tunnel’ – is apparently one of the few places in Britain where expressing your artistic temperament with a spray can will not have you hauled up by the collar stiffeners by the local filth (again, apparently). Secondly, as appears to be the case in this shot, you never know when several ghoulish creatures straight out of a Doctor Who episode will walk past you.

And thirdly, you also stand a pretty good chance – as longtime crankandpiston playmate Luke Gilbertson discovered – of finding a Porsche 997 GT3 with an RS spoiler, just ripe for a ‘candid’ photoshoot. Be warned though that, as Luke’s upcoming video will attest, a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated six-cylinder blasting its wares in a closed off tunnel may soon have your eardrums bleeding.
