Bugatti Veyron. Hot Lap at Fuji Speedway

Fancy a hot lap of Fuji Speedway with 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Seiji Ara? Hop in!

At crankandpiston, we’ve aimed a few knocks in the past – sometimes behind closed doors, we’ll admit – at the Bugatti Veyron. Insane power without question, and one of the most technically advanced hypercars to ever draw gallons of breath. But, and let’s be honest, a little dull: could you for example tell us the difference between a Sang Noir and a Grand Sport Vitesse Veyron without first retreating to the Google Playground? The Grand Sport by Bernar Vernet came close, but a new albeit imaginative paint finish doesn’t quite cut it.

This however went someway to renewing our faith in the Veyron. As did Seiji Ara, winner of the 2004 24 Hours of Le Mans with Audi and Tom Kristensen, and driver of the brute which he is about to take for a screaming hot lap around Fuji Speedway. Okay, fine, we take it all back. The Veyron truly is a superb piece of kit.

Now, if only we could convince Volkswagen to lend us one for the weekend…
