Al-Futtaim Motors reveals new Toyota Hilux

Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE, revealed the eighth-generation Hilux pick-up in Dubai, last week.

At a private event held at the Madinat Arena, Al-Futtaim Motors put on a display to media in the Middle East showcasing the capability of the new model by crashing through walls and driving over rough terrain.

First launched in Japan in 1968, the 2016 model is available in single and double cabins, and comes with a choice of 2.0-litre and a 2.7-litre petrol engines, or a 2.4-litre diesel engine, in four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive.

It sees a newly developed frame and redesigned suspension, with longer leaf springs and forward/rear facing shock absorbers, and employs an all-new six speed automatic transmission for a smoother ride.

The new Hilux also gets a new six-speed automatic transmission is said to improve fuel economy figures by up to 15% over the outgoing model, depending on the choice of engine. It also features a drive mode selector, enabling the driver to choose Eco mode for improved economy, or Power model for enhanced acceleration.

The model is on sale now, and is priced from $18,650 (68,500dhs).
