Anybody who witnessed this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix and this near-miss will surely have no doubt that Sebastian Vettel is one of the luckiest people on the planet. This video confirms that theory.

It stars said reigning Formula 1 world champion Vettel at the wheel of the Red Bull Racing RB8, and 10-time Grand Prix winner Gerhard Berger driving the Ferrari F1 87-88C in which he took victory at the 1988 Italian Grand Prix. History makers both, for in the RB8 Vettel ultimately took five victories and his third world title in 2012, while the Italian Grand Prix was the only race in 1988 that the all conquering McLaren MP4/4s did not win.

At the now renamed Red Bull Ring in Austria – which makes its return to the F1 calendar this season – Vettel and Berger trade places to experience life in each other’s shoes.

And we thought escaping carnage in Montreal was the luckiest Vettel could get this year…
