VIDEO. (F1) Renault Twizys driven through Dubai Mall

Lotus F1 Team drivers Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado drive Renault Twizys inside Dubai Mall.

Anything Red Bull Racing can do, it seems the Lotus F1 Team can do better. Having seen a Red Bull RB7 Formula 1 car through the brand new Yas Mall, as well as demonstration runs of both the RB7 and the 560hp Q50 Eau Rouge in front of Skydive Dubai, Lotus F1 Team drivers Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado decided to drive around the world’s largest shopping complex, Dubai Mall.

In, er, Renault Twizys.

Now before you start laughing, there are several good reasons for this. The Twizy (that’s TWIN for two people and EASY for its ‘intuitive and simple to use’ philosophy) is Renault’s first fully electric vehicle to be made available in the UAE, so what better way to promote that? You may also remember the Twizy drag race between Mark Webber and Charles Pic – both Renault affiliated F1 drivers at the time – ahead of last year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. And, remarkable as it may seem, the 450kg Twizy has also undergone – according to Renault anyway – F1-style development, given that its 13Kw electric engine used the same dyno as the company’s F1 engines.

…okay, watch the Yas Mall video again and then catch us up…
