The crazy news just keeps on flowing. I know we keep mentioning that Middle Eastern Motorsport is on a role, but seemingly, it really is! With drivers and talent spreading their wings all over the world and really making a good showing of it… it was high time that something was going to flow back the way of the sand pit. And here it is – Multi-British Touring Car Champions Triple Eight Race Engineering are bringing both of their S2000 turbopowered Vauxhall Vectras out to the Middle East later this year to contest the Total 2011/2012 UAE Touring Car Championship.

For those of you who are unaware of who Triple Eight Race Engineering are, here are some deets to get your head around. They are headed by Chairman and Team Principal Ian Harrison who in a motorsports career spanning over 30 years has overseen teams win titles in Formula One, World Sportscars and of course Touring Cars. He has worked too with some of the sports legendary figures including Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mercedes’s Ross Brawn and Williams F1 boss Sir Frank Williams.

Founded in late 1996, the Triple Eight team is based near to the Silverstone race circuit and is the most successful team ever to have competed in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). The BTCC is widely regarded as being one of the most competitive racing series of its kind in the world. Since 1997 the team has won over 100 races and 20 Championship titles including Champion driver 6-times and Champion Manufacturer for Vauxhall 8-times.

Sadly due to the clash of calendars, Triple Eight will enter the UAE series at the third event at Dubai Autodrome on 4th November. So all the Honda drivers and series regulars are just going to have to hang tight to take on the heavy hitters.

Now, some added good news for you. Drivers for the proposed programme have yet to be finalised, but preliminary talks for these drives are on going. Any other interested parties who are interested in racing a front running BTCC car should contact Ian Harrison or Les Jones at Triple Eight to avoid disappointment.

So what are you waiting for? Get to it… CONTACT Triple Eight now >>>
