TEASER. ‘Bring the noise’ Porsche 911 GT3. DriveTribe

Ahead of its full review, DriveTribe shares a teaser of the new Porsche 911 GT3 on-track with just one piece of advice: turn up the sound…

Engine Power Torque 0-100kph Top speed Weight Basic price
Straight-six boxer, 3996cc 493bhp @ 8250rpm 460Nm (347lb ft) @ 6000rpm 3.4 secs 318kph 1430kg (345bhp/ton) TBC

The new Porsche 991 GT3. It made its global debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, and while the revised looks are as Porsche-subtle as usual – revised front and rear bumpers and that massive spoiler are about it – the real difference lies underneath. To improve handling for instance, the new GT3 receives track-honed suspension, a chassis so stiff you could surf on it, and, bizarrely, a 35kg increase in-weight courtesy of chassis and bodyshell strengthening. Combined, overall downforce at the rear has improved 20 percent over the outgoing model.

Perhaps most significant though is the newly revised drivetrain, with either a seven-speed PDK automatic or a six-speed manual mated with a larger 4-litre naturally-aspirated straight-six. Larger in capacity by 197cc, the revised six cylinders now turf out 493bhp and 347lb ft of torque compared with the previous generation’s 468bhp and 324lb ft, the increased poke now dropping the 0-100kph time to 3.4 seconds and raising the top speed to 317kph.

None of which you will hear about in the above teaser from DriveTribe. The team’s only advice is ‘turn up the sound’ as that heady 4-litre straight-six is sent screaming on-track for more than a minute.

Oh, and if you get a second, check out the comments on the YouTube link too, which are simultaneously hilarious and deeply disturbing.
