New Peugeot Concept. The Onyx reborn?

New Peugeot concept – ‘from the same lineage as the Onyx Concept’ – set to debut at the Beijing Motor Show in April.

With a length of 4.73m and a height of 1.31m, this concept offers athletic and refined styling for four passengers and their luggage

Not the most electric of openings in the official press material, but there is one pretty good reason why the new as-of-yet-unveiled Peugeot concept car has piqued our interest. That would be the Onyx Concept.

Debuted at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Onyx was – let’s be honest – the first Peugeot in quite some time that made us sit up and go, ‘good God that’s stunning’. The French team then slammed scepticism out of the park when it unveiled a joint-venture with Sebastien Loeb to conquer the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. Which it did. In style.

Now, given that the new concept will share only part of design of the Onyx, we’re not going to start ripping our hair out with excitement just yet. Still, given that the Onyx, the 208 T16 Pikes Peak and the 308 R Concept will all be on display when the newboy makes its bow at the Beijing Motor Show in April, Peugeot could well throw another curveball and unveil an absolute corker.

We’re crossing our fingers. We’ve been patient enough.
