The new Acadia is powered by a 3.6-litre V6 unit, with variable valve timing and direct injection, while delivering 310bhp and 271lb ft of torque, and is mated to a Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic gearbox.

The new GMC Acadia retains a front-drive layout, with available all-wheel drive on the Terrain model. All models feature a new drive mode selector, which allows the driver to alter chassis and powertrain attributes to suit driving conditions. Front-drive models offer Normal (2×4), Snow, Sport and Trailer/Tow modes, while AWD models offer 2×4 (AWD disconnect), 4×4, Sport, Off Road and Trailer/Tow modes.

Depending on the model, it is available with five-, six- or seven-passenger seating and weighs in at 318kg lighter than the outgoing model. Not only that, it’s shorter in length by 184mm. Handy levers can also be used to fold the 50/50-split third-row seat flat for a completely flat load floor.

New dimensional grilles and wraparound headlamps – HID lamps on the premium Denali model and halogen projectors on other models – and LED signature lighting feature among the updates.

Inside, all Acadia trim levels feature unique interior color and trim combinations and incorporate aluminum trim.
