Getting to know the Porsche 919 Hybrid

What’s in an identity? Porsche helps us find out with this video insight into the 919 Hybrid.

The Porsche and Le Mans-istas amongst you, we assume, are champing at the bit to see the new 919 Hybrid take to the track for its first official race in the World Endurance Championship before its much-hyped assault at La Sarthe in July. And with good reason. The car boasts –a alongside some strangely cartoon-ish visuals – a lightweight 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, a front axle generator converting kinetic energy to electric for temporary all-wheel drive, and a former Formula 1 driver amongst its arsenal.

But the 919 Hybrid is apparently yet more brilliant even that that. Take a quick glimpse of this video and you’ll notice that the prototype collects sponsorship decals as it drives around the track. A couple of laps of Silverstone in the bag, and Porsche could be set for life…
