Bugatti has released images and a video of the fifth model in the six-part Les Légendes de Bugatti series. The ‘Black Bess’ Legend Vitesse revives the name of the legendary Bugatti Type 18 – nicknamed ‘Black Bess’ after highwayman Dick Turpin’s horse – which was a five-litre, four-cylinder powerhouse of a machine (back in 1912) pumping out 100bhp through its chain driven rear wheels at maximum revs. Which was about 2400rpm.

Being based on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, the Black Bess Legend Vitesse can travel slightly faster than its ancestral namesake by quite a bit and achieve a maximum speed of 408.84 km/h with the roof down. However, only three Bugatti Legend Black Bess Grand Sport Vitesse models will be built and the price of exclusivity is, as always, not cheap. At a snippet under $3-million, you are going to be kept busy as a highwayman to come up with the funds.
