Red Bull celebrates Peugeot’s victory at the 2016 Dakar Rally with an event highlight reel[Not a valid template]
Given the team’s tumultuous race in 2015, few bookies would have made Peugeot odds on favourite for victory, even despite its line-up boasting – in total, and as of 2015 – 11 World Rally Championship crowns, 17 Dakar Rally victories, and an outright 24 Hours of Le Mans victory. MINI after all had secured the blue ribbon four times on the bounce since entering the ALL4RACING for its debut run in 2012.
Just goes to show what difference a year can make though, right? After extensive testing and development of the new 2008DKR, Peugeot swept to victory after 9237km with Stephane Peterhansel further cementing himself in the record books with his 12th event win. Nine stage wins from a possible 12 also went someway to highlighting the Red Bull-sponsored 2008 DKR‘s improved form, which also included seven 1-2 finishes and a further two 1-3s.
Its victory in 2016 marks Peugeot’s fifth on the Dakar, following consecutive wins from 1987 to 1990 with the 205 T16 and the 405 T16. What better time to roll out the highlight reel from the event?
