Is this the new Porsche Cayman GT4?

Porsche 911 beating Cayman GT4 spotted on the road?

Generally we tend to stay away from speculation on crankandpiston.com. Rumours and grapevine snippets produce some insightful conversations/arguments in the office but we stand to make ourselves look quite foolish when we take our assumptions to the public. When speculation though is a Porsche Cayman GT4, and given that we’ve just driven the new Cayman GTS, we felt it our duty to let the petrolhead community run wild.

This is not the first time ‘news’ has arisen concerning a Cayman GT4, with speculation mounting on both Autocar and Car & Driver. It’s been suggested – because why the hell not?! – that modifications to the bodywork at the front include a more air-intake heavy front bumper, a more pronounced front splitter and a thin vent below the bonnet. It’s also been suggested that the prototype Cayman will use the ‘GT4’ moniker and even eclipse the flagship 911 in terms of power.

Other suggestions? Well, power could hit the 350hp mark, the seven-speed PD-Istilldon’tknowhowtospellitK will be mated to Porsche’s staple flat-six, and trails of fire are set to be left behind on launch.

We didn’t say we could still make ourselves look foolish…
