Local boys Saeed Al Mehairi, Mohammed Al Mutawa and Thani Bin Thani currently head the GT4 class for the Yas Marina Circuit team. Having started on the back row, the #6 Aston Martin was already up to twelfth at the end of the first hour and now lie on the fringes of the top ten as the race hits quarter distance.

The first three hours have not been kind to the IF Motorsport team, however. After both Ligier JS49 cars qualified line-astern in sixth and seventh, crippling mechanical issues left them 27 and 46 laps down respectively.

Stay tuned for more news and coverage from crankandpiston’s temporary office at Yas Marina.
