N – Nuccio, from Bertone

Alongside its flamboyant, aggressive Italian counterpart from Lamborghini, Bertone’s Nuccio is a masterclass of sleek elegance. A design that looks like it was lifted straight off the sketchpad, and thus makes a fitting tribute to the company’s 100th anniversary. Though perhaps not in the big Italian supercar leagues, Gruppo Bertone is firmly etched in supercar history: Giuseppe Bertone (or ‘Nuccio’ as he was known) was an imaginary behind the Lamborghini Miura.

D – Disco Volante, from Alfa Romeo

Alfa’s 8C Competizione took the automotive world by storm, a thing of beauty and devilishly quick. Following that up was going to be tough, no doubt. Helpfully though, this new concept utilizes both the same 4.7l V8 and base platform as its exclusive counterpart. The car also marks the 60th Anniversary of the company’s C52 Disco Volante model. Seems this Disco Volante denotes more than its flying saucer-esque design would have us believe.

P – Pininfarina Cambiano Concept

Nowadays Pinifarina is often whispered in the same sentence as ‘new Stratos’, and somewhat appropriately, inspiration is rumoured to have been drawn from the Lancia Florida. And underneath this stylish, almost understated concept is a potential 0-100kph time of 4.2s. This does peter out at 160kph since, yes, power comes from an electric engine mated with a diesel turbine. Something else it’s best to whisper in the same sentence as ‘Stratos’.

I – Infiniti Emerg-E

Inifiniti is clearly following Lexus’ white board: after years of rolling family saloon upon family saloon off the production line, now they’re taking the leap into supercar territory. The Emerg-E (I don’t think we need to explain the hybrid significance of that name) is the company’s first ever mid-engined performance machine and could hit 100kph in under 4s. Ignore the ‘electrifying take on supercar design’ tagline, and Inifiniti really have ticked all the aesthetic boxes at their first attempt.

S – Scuderia Ferrari, F12 Berlinetta

Having teased the automotive community sufficiently with a picture here and a fleeting video there, Ferrari’s new F12 Berlinetta has finally broke cover, as has the beating V12 heart under the engine. We think it’s an epic piece of design  and want more than anything to get our grubby mitts on an example. In fact, we’re now leaving one of the C&P office parking spaces. Well, you never know…

T – Toyota diji

We can always trust Toyota to throw something unexpected into the Motor Show feeding pit. This year’s piece of bait is the diji (nope, no capitals). The insane shape speaks for itself, since it’s the technology enveloping the car that tweaks the interest. Insert a USB into the dashboard and they will project any image stored onto the exterior LCD screens. Cool, funky and difficult to see the point. You’ve gotta love it!

O – Oh dear, the Bentley EXP 9 F

Porsche have done, Maserati are doing it, Ferrari have just done something kind of like it, and now Bentley is entering the 4×4 world with the EXP 9 F. Yeah…

The EXP 9 F will make up Bentley’s third model in the line-up alongside the illustrious Continental and Mulsanne. A twin-turbo under the bonnet earns the EXP 9 F the right, as do 0-100kph figures Bentley suggests will provide a ‘new benchmark for the SUV market’. We doubt there will be many of you on the fence though.

N – nnnnd, the FAB Mercedes SLS Roadster
