McLaren 570S. ‘Flying close to the sun’

New promotional video for McLaren 570S drops that explains what happens if you ‘dare to fly too close to the sun’

Recently crankandpiston.com hit Portugal to test the new 570S from McLaren, the entry model in Woking’s new Sport Series. We’ll bring you our thoughts on that soon, but to begin with, we thought you might like to see what McLaren has planned for its 570S customers with the below video.

From McLaren’s established 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 comes 562bhp (hence the name) and 443lb ft of torque, enough for a 0-100kph time of 3.2 seconds, 0-200kph in 9.5 seconds, and a 328kph top speed. If you want some context, the ‘Super Series’ 675LT – which we’ll also be getting out hands on soon – kicks 666bhp and 516lb ft of torque, hits 100kph from standstill in 2.9 seconds and a 330kph top speed. Both use Woking’s MonoCell chassis, a trademark design of the 12C, 650S, the P1 and the P1 GTR before them

Turns out this is what you get when you fly ‘too close to the sun’…
