The Porsche 911 is a road car legend. It’s also got a rich rally heritage, and is absolutely iconic on the track. But it’s rare that you find one single 911 that can lay claim to a history in all three disciplines.

This 1969 Porsche 911 S competed in the Acropolis Rally during the year it was born, and won. That’s a good heritage for a car straight away, but that wasn’t enough. The car went on to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times during the 1970s, and it’s completely road legal as well.

One of only six factory-built examples made, the car is now up for sale, and auction house RM invited Richard Meaden from Evo magazine to drive it. How could he say no? Let’s face it, with an expected sale price well into six figures, he’s unlikely to be buying it.
