This – THIS – is the Mad Max-inspired beast that will usher Peugeot’s lion back onto the Dakar stages in 2015: the 2008 DKR.[Not a valid template]
Having confirmed its return to the legendary endurance event and confirmed both former World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz and five-time Dakar Rally winner Cyril Despres (who will step off the KTM and behind the wheel for the first time), Peugeot has now released official images of the 2008 DKR.
The 2008 name is derived from the company’s 2008 crossover, although little of its namesake remains. As well as chucking out the rear doors, Peugeot has fitted the two-wheel drive Dakar contender with a shortened overhang for greater clearance, suspension that will outlive the Duracell Bunny, and MASSIVE 37-inch tyres. Plus those all-important Red Bull and Total sponsorship stickers.
Right, enough waffle. Watch…
