Ahhh, I’m looking forward to this weekend already. Rd6 of the UAE National Racing series and there is plenty to look forward to…should be good.

GTA: Again the battle to see who among the local boys will be able to reel in Karim. Even in the absence of the Khaleji car we’ve have Andrew Donaldson and the DXB Racing VIper to look forward to. We are also wondering how Raed Hassan will fare against the ARM Porsches as Raed gets more and more seat time in the Ginetta…not only that but some factory driver instruction…we will keep that bit quiet though. Wildcard: There’s also a certain Axis Viper that I’m hoping will show up, if it does it should be running better than ever.

GTB: Battle in GTB should be a good one – expecting a strong 3 way between Denby, Irfan and the quicker Ginetta’s, plus it will be interesting to see what Fred in the EvoX and the Astons can do this time out. Wildcard – hoping SteveA will be back on the pace and in fine form too; anyone’s guess where he’ll end up running if he’s on his game and everything’s working properly with the Porsche 944.

TCC Class 1: 3 or 4 way battle of the SEATS again; Simmo concentrating fully on it this time which means he should be quick, Al Mutawaa with lots to prove and Bin Hadher with new brakes…plus whoever shows up in a SEAT. A little birdie tells me one of the Al Owais bros will also be out there with a SEAT!!!! We will also be watching the C&P GTI vs. the Mark Hannak battle (modded GTI Cup vs. Modded GTI Cup). After chatting with Phil this afternoon he is actually excited there are more SEAT’s running…more targets!

TCC Class 2: Anyone’s guess, but should be hot and heavy up front! Will the pumped up A2B car be able to mix it up with the Lap57 Hondas right out of the gate? Will Aslam be back on pace and at the front in the ‘Teg mixing it up as well? Will Eissa make an appearance in the battle for the top? Where will Spencer end up after podium-ing last time out and where will the TAM Clio end up after an atypically poor result? Will Zlatko perhaps have a surprise in store?

Wildcard: Too many to count – Jason in the A2B car, Eissa and Jonny Forster in his yellow ‘teg, who was running pretty high up but had issues.

At any rate, competition for those podium spots is gonna be fierce and intense! Expecting qualifying and starting order/off the line performance to play a big part in this one too. Then there’s the chasing pack to look at as well – whose going to be able to knock off the guys who beat then last time?

Also, we’ve been without major incident in TCC for awhile now – how long will that keep up? Especially with hungrier, faster cars on track?

  1. Ah ha! That explains the weekend! And I thought it was either the weather or something in the water – stuffed if I can account for it any other way!
