One of the things that I set out to do this year, during the UAE National Racing Series was to try to capture the personalities that in my mind make the whole machine tick. Taking pictures of the cars and the action is all well and good but people rule! It’s an obvious thing to say, but people ooze the passion required to keep the racing scene in the UAE going. Without their passion, commitment, money and humour it just wouldn’t happen.

I’ve said it before, but for a championship to grow in a sensible and cost effective organic way, takes people. I sincerely hope that it keeps tracking in the direction of continued success and doesn’t turn into a wallet war with no soul or personal vibe. Having been into a couple of F1 paddocks in my time, put them up against Nascar/BTCC/GT’s etc and you will probably get my point. Ignoring the money side of things of course. However gated pit garages and faceless teams? What’s that all about?I digress.

After many hours last night hawking through my collection of images over the past year, I now have a bunch of faces and personalities from throughout the pit lane that I hope you will all enjoy. If you’re not here this time , there will be a Pt2, 3 and probably 4. And if you’re not in there, I’m sorry!

  1. 53 weeks in to Crank&Piston, and you’re STILL showing pictures of me looking like a miserable bastard! What does one have to do to get a nice pic on this site!

Keep up the good work, though!
