A tribute to Jim Bamber, and The Pits[Not a valid template]
Some of you may already be familiar with the work of the late Jim Bamber, the satirical motorsport cartoonist who tragically passed away this weekend after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Best known for The Pits and his colourful work covering the controversial (usually political) side of motorsport – with focus particularly on Formula 1, the World Rally Championship and sportscars – Bamber proved a fan favourite for the best part of three decades. His tenure with Autosport and Autocourse magazines were amongst his most respected.
For those of you who have yet to sample Bamber’s work, ‘The Pits’ and ‘Yumpin’ Yarns’ collections are available for purchase HERE, as are Racing Heroes sculptures manufactured in the Brit’s own inimitable style. His work includes homages to former F1 World Champions Juan Manuel Fangio, Jackie Stewart, Graham and Damon Hill, Ayrton Senna, and Jenson Button among others, as well as the legendary Colin McRae.
