Now here’s a familiar sight. Of sorts. Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso proved this year at the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix that two can indeed go into one through Eau Rouge at Spa-Francorchamps.

Rewind a few years – indeed, back to when this Porsche 917 and Ferrari 512 had only just rolled off the production line – and to attempt a side-by-side manoeuvre through a much trickier Eau Rouge (before its remodelling) usually led to broken bodywork and two cars in the crash barriers. If you were lucky.

Those odds rarely stopped the truly fearless though.
