Porsche is currently the largest manufacturer of race cars and consider motorsport to be an essential part of their on-going engineering development. Advances in technology born on the track invariably find their way on to the road going models in the perpetual pursuit of chasing perfection.
The evolution of the 911, however, may have taken a very different path if Porsche had continued its rally program, which was dropped in the 1980’s.

Maybe it’s time they got back in the game.
