SEAT Leon Cupra Nurburgring

SEAT has lapped the Nordschleife circuit in 7:58 in a Leon Cupra equipped with the optional Performance Pack and have taken the record for front-wheel drive series production cars. Spanish driver, Jordi Gené, averaged 155 kph with a top speed of 242 kph on the Tiergarten section of the circuit in almost perfect conditions on a dry ‘ring with an ambient temperature of 10ºC and a track temperature of 8ºC.

While many people dispute the relevance of manufacturers chasing lap times at the Nürburgring, it is perhaps still the best gauge of a cars real world ability. A car that is fast on the Nordschleife is fast on the road and that’s a fact. Well, unless you live in Dubai where corners have not been incorporated into the road network.
