Range Rover’s smallest SUV offering has received an update for 2021 alongside the mid-sized Land Rover Discovery Sport. New additions include revised interior and exterior design, a fresh infotainment system and a wider range of powertrain options. Prices for the new Range Rover Evoque start from $42,540.

Most notable among the changes is the launch of the Autobiography trim, bringing more luxury to the compact SUV than before. Tweaked exterior design, burnished copper accents and Range Rover lettering set it apart from a standard model, with 21” diamond-cut wheels and a panoramic roof coming as standard. The Autobiography can be had in a variety of powertrains including the range-topping P300e plug-in hybrid.

The update also brings two new mild-hybrid 4cyl diesel units to the range, offering 163 and 197bhp. These join the recently unveiled P300e plug-in hybrid and sit alongside the P200, P250 and P300 petrol offerings – all come equipped with a mild-hybrid system for improved performance and economy.

At the top of the range is the P300e plug-in hybrid, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged 3cyl with an electric motor for an output of 305bhp and 400lb ft of torque – with power sent to all four wheels, 0-100kph comes in a spritely 6.1sec with top speed at 212kph.

New to all models is the ‘Pivi’ infotainment system, redesigned to be more user-friendly than before – ‘popular functions’ are said to be accessible from the home screen within just two taps at most, and a separate data plan and battery system significantly improve loading times.

Wireless charging with a signal boosting option are also on the cards, with Spotify directly integrated within the infotainment system for a more seamless listening experience. Two phones can now connect to Bluetooth simultaneously and over-the-air updates ensure your car has the very latest maps, apps and vehicle features without the need to visit a service centre.

Also included is a brand new cabin air filtration system, a welcome addition given today’s climate. The system is said to clear the air of fine particulates including allergens, pollen and even some strong smells – occupants will be able to check the state of the air both inside and outside the vehicle through the infotainment screen.

The new Range Rover Evoque is available to order now with prices starting from $42,538.
