The Middle East will be the destination of choice for Porsche enthusiasts throughout the region by this year’s end. Porsche’s international series of one-make championships is set to take shape at the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge. Motorsports has gained a huge following within the region and it’s becoming increasingly popular.

For six weekends throughout the season (November – May), the GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East will hold 2 races per weekend at the leading race tracks throughout the region for the public to enjoy. The races will feature 16 new Porsche GT3 Cup cars from the 2010 model year and these vehicles will be exclusively available to participants. The event is based on the renowned Porsche 911 GT3 road car with only a few race – day modifications. Each car is identical technically so that the driver’s skill plays an essential part of the series. The principle of “Arrive and Drive” will be applied to the challenge which offers drivers the opportunity to arrive at the race weekend with a perfectly prepared race car on hand.

The countries that already host a Porsche one-make series attract significant public attention and the Middle East series will be no different. It will target experienced local drivers within the region and it will create local heroes in a racing series that is completely home grown. The magic and appeal of this series will spread around the world. This is yet another milestone in the rich history of Porsche motorsports.

Lechner Motorsport will manage the racing series and will be responsible for the coordination, logistical support and to ensure everything is in place for the drivers. This exciting series will introduce a new division which will offer non-professional drivers a chance to compete for victory and to learn form the best sportscar and GT specialists in the Middle East. This category will be known as the Gentleman Trophy. The 2009/10 race locations will be in Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. This will without a doubt give both participants and the public a Porsche infused adrenaline rush.
