3.2 seconds. That’s the figure to really take away from the new Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4. V10? Sure. 610hp? Meh. 0-100kph? 3.2 seconds! That’s just over a second faster than the Gallardo it replaces and 0.3 seconds slower than the range topping Aventador.

Ahead of the Huracán’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini has released official performance and technical information on its new 2+2 supercar, niftily crowned ‘the start of a new era’, one in which the newboy hopes to reel in the 14,022 units total the Gallardo achieved during its 10-year lifecycle.

Styling could/will most likely play a huge part in that, the Huracán – a name derived from a fighting bull of the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed (and loosely translated from Mayan as ‘one-legged’ apparently) – boasting aggressively angled headlights, that shark-nose and ‘a strong silhouette’. Not bad for (gulp!) €169,500 ($230,000ish).

As well as the 5.2-litre V10 that kicks out 610hp and 413lb ft of torque (enough to hit 200kph from standstill in less than 10 seconds) and 7-speed dual-clutch ‘Lamborghini Doppia Frizione’ transmission, the new Lambo has also been on a strict diet, boasting as it does lightweight aluminium/carbon fibre panels. Throw in some whopping 20-inch wheels and performance tyres, and the new Huracán – rather than taking corners flat – could make them beg for mercy.

But of course this is a new era of green motoring we’re talking about at this year’s Geneva Motor Show too, and you’ll be pleased to hear the Huracán LP 610-4 records 12.5L/100 km fuel consumption.
