Despite being caught out by the hard charging Schmid, long-time leader AlFaisal got his title defence off to an impressive start at the Bahrain International Circuit by securing the second spot on the podium. The Saudi local boy battled past polesitter Schmid early on, the speed in his new Saudi Falcons GT3 machinery clear for the spectators on their feet in the grandstands to see.
