Joe Ghanem is the current points leader having secured two hard-fought victories during previous visits to the Bahrain International Circuit. Fellow countryman Tan Hanna – fresh from a solid outing last time out – will be keen to secure his first series podium, while Saudi Arabia’s Faisal Shaker and Mohammad Jawa will be chasing the leader hard. Kuwaiti Khalid Al Mudhaf will once again be mixing it with the leaders.

As well as the Middle Eastern contingent, the series will boast a strong European driver line-up. Patrick Zamparini will be keen to maintain his unbeaten podium streak, and will be joined on the grid by fellow Italians Carlo Romani and Gorgio Manuzzi. India will also be represented – with Cheerag Arya making his Maserati Trofeo JBF RAK debut – as will Venezuela, courtesy of Justino de Azcarate Riveroll.

All drivers will be competing in the Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo race car, a pristine example of Italian passion and charisma. Capable of producing 488bhp, close on-track competition down the Yas Marina Circuit’s 1120m back straight during the afternoon’s two races is sure to excite spectators and series officials alike.

Umberto Cini, Managing Director of Maserati Middle East & Africa, is looking forward to the series’ second visit to a Grand Prix circuit. “To race on one Formula One Grand Prix stage is a triumph. To race on a second, and in succession, shows just how strong the Maserati Trofeo JBF RAK series is. We believe the action in Abu Dhabi will be even closer than we have seen already.”

crank&piston will be joining Maserati at Yas this weekend to bring you all the action direct from the UAE’s capital.
