Lamborghini has revealed the rear-wheeled version of its Huracán – the LP580-2 – ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The new rear-wheel drive model boasts a slightly more modest version of the 602bhp 5.2-litre V10 found in the four-wheel drive example, now boasting 571bhp. The recalibrated V10 also produces slightly less torque at 384lb ft, albeit a figure available across 75 per cent at 1000rpm. However, a 33kg saving over the LP610-4’s 1389kg dry weight means the two-wheel drive LP580-2 takes just 0.2 seconds longer to get to 100kph, at 3.4 seconds. Top speed is 320kph.

Unlike the six-speed manual found in the two-wheel drive Gallardo LP550-2 (the Huracán’s predecessor), the new LP580-2 houses a seven-speed dual clutch automatic. Power-to-weight meanwhile is 40/60 front to rear, while the Huracán also houses three selectable drive modes: Strada, Sport and Corsa.

Visual differences between the two-wheel LP580-2 and all-wheel drive LP610-4 are limited though do include revised air intakes and tweaks to the nose for greater downward pressure on the front axle. New 19in ‘Kari’ alloys are clad with Pirelli P-Zero performance tyres that have been developed specifically for the rear-wheel drive raging bull.
