Thought the 458 Speciale was dead? Think again…

What you’re looking at here is a one-off special edition, built by the Ferrari Styling Centre for an ‘exclusive British owner’ and possibly the last example of the 458 Speciale we’ll see before its 488 successor arrives (presumably) within the next couple of years. The exclusive 458 MM Speciale.

Powered by a 597bhp 4.5-litre V8 and capable of the ton in just three seconds flat, the 458 Speciale followed the likes of the 360 Challenge Stradale and 430 Scuderia as a hardcore variant of Ferrari’s headlining supercar, it gaining yet further significance when time was called on Maranello’s naturally aspirated tenure during its production. Hardly surprising that said British owner was keen to leave the seven-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission and Magnetorheological suspension (phew!) intact for his one-off bespoke model. There’s been no word on performance, though we doubt that 325kph top speed has changed much.

Changes instead have been principally been made to the exterior, the brief for the 458 MM Speciale specifying more aggressively styled aluminium bodywork looks and a wraparound ‘visor’ windscreen, the latter checked from the list courtesy of black A-pillars à la the 1984 Ferrari GTO. At the back, coolant radiators are now closer together under the tighter bodywork to feed air to the mid-mounted V8. There’s also revised side air intakes, more menacing carbon-composite bumpers front and rear, modified light clusters at the rear, and some new wheels, the altogether edgier look created parallels we’d never noticed before: blink, and the rear quarter in profile looks remarkably like a Lotus Evora 400

To complete the striking look of the new 458 MM Speciale, ‘Bianco Italia’ paint has been added – with matching white Cioccolato leather upholstery – as well as tricolore racing stripes across the bonnet and roofline.

Any of you who fancy emptying your wallet for an exclusive one-off Ferrari, the Styling Centre are awating your call. Which reminds us, contributions welcome loyal readers.
