Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition. Last one ever

The last ever Mercedes-Benz SLS – the SLS AMG GT Final edition – makes its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Wave goodbye….

[Not a valid template]

The Mercedes-Benz SLS’ curtain call has arrived in the shape of the limited AMG GT Final Edition, which today made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Given that this is the last SLS supercar to ever go on sale, Mercedes has quite rightly gone a tad mental with the design, including new front splitter and rear aerofoil, red-painted brake calipers and lightweight AMG forged wheels shod with Dunlop Sport Maxx Race Cup tyres. Oh, and a sizeable amount of carbon fibre. Indeed, the central air outlet in the bonnet is reminiscent of that used on both the SLS AMG Coupe Black Series – spotted on Mercedes’ stand at the recent Dubai Motor Show and the SLS GT3. Befitting the model line’s final year, the SLS GT3 which this year took 24-Hour event victory at Dubai, Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring, as well as various FIA GT Series and Blancpain Endurance Series events.

Powered by the same Mercedes AMG 6.3-litre V8 as the outgoing SLS, the Final Edition will be available to just 350 lucky customers, and also comes as either a coupe or a roadster. Though with added pepp. Producing 591hp and 479lb ft of torque, the Final Edition coupe will hit 0-100kph in 3.7 seconds and the now traditional electronically limited 250kph top speed. Mated to an AMG seven-speed Speedshift transmission, the drivetrain includes a three-way drive mode for more dynamic driving, aided by AMG Ride Control performance suspension and electronic controlled damping for firmer road holding.

Kitted out in a rather cheeky ‘designo magno graphite’ (or ‘dark red’) paint finish, each of the 350 examples comes with a commemorative numbered plaque. If you’re already champing at the bit, then first delivery of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition in March next year can’t come soon enough.
