Lamborghini SUV: Produktion in Sant?Agata Bolognese und Investitionen im hohen dreistelligen Millionenbereich

Get ready for a Lamborghini SUV folks, because the Urus is officially happening. Parent company Audi has given the green light for production of the new car at Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata Bolognese factory. It’ll be Lamborghini’s third model in its product range when it arrives in 2018.

The Urus was first unveiled as a concept car in 2012, and is the latest high-end luxury SUV to be announced, with Bentley, Rolls-Royce and more all heading to the high-riding, off-roading, super-swanky market.

As with all new vehicles, this is still a risk however – Lamborghini  is ploughing hundreds of millions of dollars to make the Urus happen, so it needs to do well. The factory will grow to almost double its current size, with a new production line, warehouses and a bigger R&D department set to be built. Some 500 new employees are due to join the firm.

Around 3000 Urus models will be built a year, doubling the company’s current sales figures. Lamborghini expects the new SUV to be popular mainly in newer markets like the Middle East, China and Russia, but strong sales are also expected in the USA, UK and Germany.
