BAC MONO. Single Seater. Double Feature

The BAC MONO must surely rate as one of the most driver focused road cars ever produced. With a central – single seat – driving position, longitudinally mounted 2.3-litre, 280 bhp four cylinder power plant provided by Cosworth and an F-3 spec 6-speed sequential gearbox from Hewland, the singular focus is on solitary driving enjoyment.

The concept – by the Briggs Automotive Company – was to create a formula car for the street. With a kerb weight of 540kg – 520bhp per tonne – 0-100kph in 2.8 secs and a top speed over 270kph, we think they may have achieved that. Not bad for a car inspired by a Björk video…
