Nissan GTR. Controlled Mayhem. Game Changer

The Gen1 car (can we call it that?) was monstrously fast and gave the driver savage in gear surge, but now it’s been taken to the next level. The twin blowers spin up earlier than before and give a stronger and more consistent response throughout the rev range. It’s no surprise to hear then, that the 0-100kmh time has fallen even further with rumours of a 3.0 second flat time. We couldn’t match that, but got super close.

Things sound better, too. Not a patch on aftermarket attempts we might add, however the V6’s voice is now joined by a very clear and vocal chorus from the turbos. Even the chase car on the day, Mr Heywood’s bonkers EVO couldn’t silence the big Manga-wagon.

We collected the car from Jebal Ali Free Zone and within the first few minutes, as we ripped around an on ramp section leading onto SZR, we noticed that the chassis modifications have clearly had a great effect, and as the day passed by (like the full tank of Super) it became clear the GT-R’s character has changed entirely. Firstly, the steering is more positive, enabling the driver to simply turn the wheel and let the nose just sniff out the apex. None of that slightly cumbersome understeer trait the car used to have… It has become a real drivers car as opposed to the digital monster it used to be.

So there you have it. The GT-R has come of age… and everyone in the office wants one. A real monster of car that needs no cosseting and one that can be driven day in day out and yet is able to wipe the smile of many, if not all supercar owners faces.

The ultimate sports car? It’s close, that’s for sure…
