Mini Speedy Le Mans. Indestructable? Prove It!

Is the Mini Speedy Le Mans an indestructible toy? We’re not sure, but we’re thinking of ways to put it to the test…

Since a number of the team have young sons, daughters, nieces and/or nephews, birthdays come around quite often. The hunt then is usually on to find a toy that’s both cool and – this being crankandpiston – car-related.

Not long ago the Google playground unearthed these, Mini Speedy Le Mans models from Playforever Toys. Crafted by British designer Julian Meagher and influenced by classic cars and motor racing icons, the Speedy series is aimed at design retailers rather than the Hamleys of this world. What’s perhaps most interesting is that because of the ABS plastic and rubber used in the design, and the specially engineered gloss-coated moldings, each Mini Speedy is apparently to be virtually indestructible.

Eyebrows were quickly raised in cynicism and chortles of derision let forth into the air. Of course, since we are all eight years old, the conversation soon turned to what we could possibly do to put this ‘indestructible’ label to the test:

– drive over them with a Ford F-150 FX4 Hi-Runner

– use two of them as rollerskates

– make our own drift course with Speedys in place of cones

– leave in the Middle Eastern sun for the duration of the summer

Admittedly we’ve missed quite a few, so do feel free to tell us what test you’d perform on the Mini Speedy Le Mans series in the comments box below.

How about it Playforever Toys? Want to let crankandpiston put this theory to the test?
