Let’s just consider some of the specifics of the Mercedes SLS GT for a second: a 6.3-litre AMG-tuned V8 under the bonnet, 0-100kph in 3.7s, and 591hp. That’s an extra 21hp over the ‘standard’ SLS AMG and – we suspect – an extra hundred or so heart palpitations when you throw said beast around the Hockenheim circuit.

This arduous task falls to the Drive‘s Chris Harris, and though he’s driven the kinds of automotive pornography that most of us can only dream about, the walls at the Hockenheimring have never looked closer as he selects fifth gear down the main straights.
