It’s a big shame that we don’t get more ludicrously powerful station wagons in the Middle East. There’s something delightful about a 500bhp estate that can carry kids and shopping and still lap a racetrack at high velocities.

The Germans have long been great at producing such practical performance cars, and the latest from Mercedes-Benz has a twist. The CLS AMG Shooting Brake isn’t officially an estate (although let’s be honest, it is really) and it’s yet another spin on the four-door coupe idea. But is it any good?
