Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Black. The Slumbering Beast

There are more than a few shots of the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé Black Series in action circulating the internet. And when we say ‘in action’, we generally mean ‘going sideways’. One thing this beast is NOT is kind to its tyres.

We need only gloss over the stats to see why. The 6.3-litre V8 buckled under the bonnet produces an eyebrow raising 517hp, which in turn – when used with a seven-speed sports transmission and lightweight design – results in a neck spasm-ing 0-100kph time of just 4.2s, and an eye-watering/electronically limited 300kph top speed. Figures like that deserve a couple of clichéd adjectives thrown in, we’re sure you agree.

Couple that with the matte black finish (pure evil whichever way you look at it), the enormous wheel arches and numerous air intakes providing the beast with life, and that should explain why the C63 Black is so often shot at full hoon, and why the life expectancy of Dunlop’s finest plummets to about an hour and a half.

This time though, the brute has been caught napping, allowing crankandpiston faithful Rafik Jabbour to creep up and take a few shots. Well, as the number plate suggest, it’s a long drive from Qatar to the UAE.

Especially when it’s done sideways.
