Lotus City Car // Lost in the melee of craziness

It is fair to say that Lotus pulled it out of the bag at last week’s Paris Motor Show. For a small company with massive aspirations, they really came out with a statement of intent. Five new models due to hit the showroom floor in the coming five years! Five new models for a major player is a stretch, so five for the little company from Hethel is going to be a mountain.

Lost in all the craziness around the new fleet of introductions (and believe me, it was nuts!), there was actually a sixth cheeky Lotus model on display – The CityCar Concept.

The CityCar is a hybrid gas-electric vehicle and will be used as a demonstration vehicle for Lotus Engineering, which for those of you who are unaware, is a separate division from Lotus Cars.

Let’s hope this little car can make the waves necessary, if not at least have some of that Chapman inspired thinking trickle down into the mainstream. It is happening, all be it slowly with the likes of Jaguar Cars and their XJ Limo Green Hybrid study…so there is hope yet!
