Richard Mille RM-011. 10 years of Felipe Massa

Richard Mille celebrates ten-year partnership with Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa with limited edition $170K watch

Joining the likes of Sébastien Loeb, Jean Todt and Romain Grosjean, Williams Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa is the recipient of a new watch from high-end chronologists Richard Mille, a tribute to the ten-year partnership with the Brazilian. Given the recent contact speculations concerning former World Champions Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen, it’s sometime easy to forget that Massa made his F1 debut way back in 2002 in Australia with Sauber…

Anyway, back to the watch. A limited edition model – only 100 will be made – the movement of RM 011 is made entirely from grade 5 titanium while the case is made from North Thin Ply Technology (NTPT) carbon, making it almost ludicrously light and exceptionally strong. The architecture of the flyback chronograph is a development of the previous RM 004 and RM 008 Felipe Massa limited edition models. Yellow details are a nod to the Brazilian’s helmet colours. Prices start at a sizeable $170K, give or take.

Now, how about a lap of the Jerez circuit from the cockpit of this year’s Williams FW37, piloted (we think) by Massa himself. First time we’ve seen anything like this since Simon Pagenaud’s ‘visor cam’ run in an IndyCar around St Petersburg…
